Resort 2021 buying starts this week and in an ideal world, pre COVID-19, I would have been off to New York for Fashion Week.

Many of the brands I deal with have decided to skip Resort and focus on Spring to be presented in September and over the past few weeks I have had some interesting conversations with suppliers and designers alike who are using this opportunity for change to completely rethink the retail calendar which in the long run makes complete sense.

As a buyer, the Fall collections I see in February hit the stores in July, the Spring collections I see in September arrive in-store in January and pre-Fall which I buy in December are available for customers in May. This means that summer dresses can be found in-store when it is freezing outside, and knitwear arrives when the sun is shining brightly! Madness really!!

With my first born turning six this week and with all the spare time I now have on my hands thanks to lockdown it gave me the opportunity to reflect on my pregnancies and pregnancy style.

I worked throughout my pregnancies and with William (my first) I literally gave birth three days after leaving the office for maternity leave!! With my number two, Emilia, she was present at her Baby Shower, just to give you an idea of how late I left it to take leave!!

During that time, I struggled to find maternity clothes that were still elegant and chic which is why I did not end up purchasing anything specifically maternity designed but opted for either stretchy/fitted or flowing silhouettes from Zara and H&M as well as reworking items already in my wardrobe; for example, I once wore a Temperley skirt as a strapless mini dress – see image below!!

The trench coat has and always will be a wardrobe staple, that go-to item that helps you transition from Fall into Spring.

It is that fail safe outerwear piece that you can throw over a heavy knit sweater, jeans and boot combo just as easily as you can a pretty lightweight printed dress and sandals.

It is practical and dependable which is why designers incorporate it into their collections season upon season, reinterpreting it in new fabrications, colours and embellishments.

I have recently added three new versions to my collection which I just had to share after once again seeing this wardrobe classic crop up on numerous runways this season.

Anyone who knows me will confirm that I am an accessories magpie! I add a belt to virtually every outfit, have a penchant for oversized clip earrings (no, never been pierced!) and statement shoes.

I believe that taking a moment to plan your accessories has the power to completely transform and elevate the simplest of outfits whist adding personal signature and flair.

Over the years I have amassed quite the treasure trove but I am always on the hunt for the next piece I just can’t live without!!

The animal print trend is a little like Marmite…. you either love it or you don’t, it’s as simple as that!

I can’t quite recall when I fell for animal but when I did, I fell hard, like REAL hard!! Like a moth to a flame I am drawn to anything and everything animal print. Shoes, bags, clothes, swimwear – don’t even get me started on swimwear and accessories – I am OBSESSED!
