Anyone who knows me will confirm that I am an accessories magpie! I add a belt to virtually every outfit, have a penchant for oversized clip earrings (no, never been pierced!) and statement shoes.
I believe that taking a moment to plan your accessories has the power to completely transform and elevate the simplest of outfits whist adding personal signature and flair.
Over the years I have amassed quite the treasure trove but I am always on the hunt for the next piece I just can’t live without!!
Jewellery is the most transformative
thing you can wear.
On the high street I have to say that Zara continues to deliver fabulous and affordable pieces season after season and their Spring offer is one of their strongest to date. My favorite pieces are highlighted below and are all under £30 if you would believe!! The cleopatra style earrings are a firm favorite and the shell drop earrings give the ones from Prada a run for their money!! I adore the mismatched wooden drop earrings and the sunglasses could easily pass for a pair from Miu Miu!
If you have a greater budget to splurge some of my favorite ports of call for costume jewellery include Oscar de la Renta, Alexis Bittar, Bounkit, Kenneth Jay Lane, Ben-Amun and Carousel Jewels. The beauty of jewellery is that pieces are timeless so you can easily search for discounted versions on The Outnet, E-bay, The Real Real and Vestiaire Collective; my favorite Chanel drop earrings are actually a vintage pair I found on E-bay a few years ago!! Here are a few discounted bargains I currently have my eye on….
I would style any of the above wow pieces with just a simple white tee and distressed boyfriend jeans with mid heel sandals for day to ensure maximum ROI – there is no need to save such treasures for special occasions as every day is a runway!!
Statement large chain necklaces are currently at the forefront of the season and mark my word will be around for a few more to come! I am currently hankering over the Tiffany Gold Link Necklace but since my budget won’t stretch that far I am contemplating a similar rendition from hot talent Laura Lombardi. Spot the difference if you will!!! I will be layering this with multiple chains (standard!!) over simple white tees in the summer and then over roll neck sweaters come Fall.
I am also an avid collector of the humble brooch whose resurgence I applaud Lady Hale, the president of the Supreme Court, for. If you may recall, back in September 2019 she wore an imposing silver spider pinned to her lapel as she determined that Boris Johnson’s prorogation of Parliament to be unlawful. The web went viral questioning whether she cleverly tailored her message through her choice of accessory. It stood as a stark reminder of the almighty power jewellery can have when utilised in one’s wardrobe.
I like to wear mine on lapels of blazers and coats or at the collar bone instead of a necklace. Come on my BC Fashionistas….get your Granny Chic on!!!
