I seem to add a new white dress to my wardrobe each Spring as I love nothing more than how bronzed, sun kissed and healthy looking skin pops against the blank canvas.
White has it all. It’s beauty is absolute.
It’s the perfect harmony.
Everyone goes on about how the LBD (little black dress) is a wardrobe staple and whilst I agree, I would also add the LWD (little white dress) to the list of every girls must haves. The LWD screams summer and there is something exciting and refreshing when the weather or a tropical holiday destination finally permits you to embrace it. This warm-weather staple was all over the spring/summer 2020 runways; long, short, fitted or oversized in plain cotton poplin, lace or embroidery anglaise, anything goes as long as you ensure it is crisp and the brightest of whites.
I highly recommend playing with accessories to elevate your outfit and put your stamp on it. For a monocramatic look be bold with black shoes and accessories. If you’re a boho babe add chunky soled boots to a puff sleeve trapeze number. For a more glitzy approach to take you from day to evening you can’t go wrong with metallic footwear, a statement belt (my signature style!!) and jewellery, lots and lots of jewellery (more is always more, trust me!!).

For an effortless chic daytime look you can’t fail pairing a linen dress with a straw bag and kitten heel strappy sandals. I keep oohing and ahing over the Loewe straw tote and Cult Gaia Ark bag…..maybe this will be the year I finally succumb to one of them….or maybe both?!!
However you choose to accessorise please please please remember to pay attention to your lingerie!!! Be sure to avoid visible black underwear and ensure that any white undergarments cannot be seen through the fabric when the light hits. My advice is to go for nude colours just to be super safe!!
I have a range of LWD’s that resurface each and every summer and treasured memories are relived anytime I wear them. My Alexander Wang knot detail version is from his Resort 2011 collection and remains a firm favorite of mine as I have fond memories of parties in Dubai, an anniversary dinner in Singapore, buying trips in Milan and barefoot beach walks in the Maldives! Pretty pleased or should I say smug that I still fit into it 9 years later and 2 kids down!!!
Much can be said about my lace playsuit which I picked up for next to nothing in a little boutique in Brazil. I have worn this during my best friends wedding weekend in Garopaba, on safari in South Africa, on holiday in Cyprus….honestly the list goes on. Never fret over the investment you may make on a LWD as you are guaranteed to pull these out from the depths of your wardrobe every holiday or sunny day.
The Spring shows were awash with LWD’s and the high street has some fabulous versions which I advise you snap up now before it’s too late. Zara has by far the best assortment at truly affordable prices. What are you waiting for my BC Fashionistas?!! The sun is out and whilst the shops remain closed the web is wide open,,,,just don’t tell hubby xxx
